Chipmunks Day – December 22
On this day in 1958, The Chipmunks song became the #1 single in America and went on to win three Grammys. It was the first time that rodents reached the Top 100, but it wouldn’t be the last.
Chipmunks Alvin, Simon, and Theodore were adopted by songwriter/manager David Seville, who provided them stability, a schedule of gigs, and parental reprimands. Their first TV show aired in 1961 and was followed by commercial deals with General Foods, more songs, and a litany of TV and film comebacks spanning over six decades.

- 5 oz Bailey’s Irish Cream
- 5 oz hazelnut liquor (Frangelico)
- 2 oz espresso
- 1 oz milk
- 2 drops of vanilla extract
Brew espresso and pour into coffee cups or glasses. Stir in Irish cream, hazelnut liquor, vanilla, and milk.
Mocktail Du Jour – The Chipmunk Mocktail
- 1 oz Irish cream syrup
- 5 oz hazelnut syrup
- 2 oz espresso
- 1 oz milk
- 2 drops of vanilla extract
Brew espresso and pour into coffee cups or glasses. Stir in Irish creamer, hazelnut syrup, vanilla, and milk.
