Michael Bloomberg, the New York City Mayor, established November 10, 2009 as “Sesame Street Day,” a day to mark the show’s 40th Anniversary since its premier on November 10, 1969. Sesame Street was the most widely viewed kids’ show in the world, aired in more than 120 countries, and earning over 100 Emmy Awards, a Guinness Book World Record. The show featured Jim Henson’s Muppets, a cast of lovable human characters, and Big Bird, who is kind of a hybrid of both human and Muppet.

Cocktail Du Jour – The Count Cocktail

This recipe was a favorite of Count Camillo Negroni:

• 1 oz gin
• 1 oz Campari
• 1 oz sweet vermouth

Combine ingredients in a shaker with ice and count 10 stirs. Strain into a chilled glass. Use an orange peel for garnish.

Mocktail Du Jour – White Sesame Mocktail

Recipe by Jolyn Yao, Callan Berry, and Michael Christensen

• 5 oz lime juice⁠
• 5 oz simple syrup⁠
• 25 oz white sesame oil⁠
• 5 peppercorns ⁠
• 3 oz lemon seltzer (or gin)⁠
• 25 oz lemon juice⁠

Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice, shake and strain into glass with ice, and garnish with lime peel.
