National Lazy Mom’s Day – September 3rd

Unlike Mother’s Day, which is for presenting her with flowers, presents, or brunch as an acknowledgement of her birthing/raising you, Lazy Mom’s Day is an acknowledgement of her waiting on you like a servant. Today is her day to be lazy, like you were for so many years, while you take care of the chores, and food, and general moral support. A spa day would be appropriate, but most importantly, Mom should not have a care in the world. If you are a Mom alone today, you should 1) have no chores today, 2) order take out or delivery (something really good), and 3) take a bath, with candles or wine or whatever makes you smile. Today should be a worry-free fun lazy day, all day.

Music Du Jour:
Moms, think back to your favorite songs in your youth and indulge in a Spotify theme list (https://open.spotify.com/search).

TV Du Jour:
Whatever Mom never gets enough of because the family doesn’t appreciate it as much as she does.
Snacks: Mom’s best forbidden snack. Have someone else buy it and sneak it in if possible.

Cocktail Du Jour – The Bedtable Mimosa
Fancy coasters and champagne glasses are encouraged.
⦁ One half glass champagne, sparkling wine, or cava
⦁ Fresh squeezed squirts of citrus as desired, alone or combined:
⦁ Orange
⦁ Grapefruit
⦁ Lemon
⦁ Watermellon
Pour wine slowly, then add citrus slowly to avoid volcanic reactions. If the mimosa isn’t hitting you fast enough, try adding 0.5 oz. of brandy and a 0.5 teaspoon of sugar.

Mocktail Du Jour – The Bedtable Mimosa Mocktail
Same as recipe above but substitute the sparkling with ginger ale, 7-UP, Sprite, or sparkling wine grape juice.

Beer Du Jour
Miller High Life (the champagne of beers)

Wine Du Jour
Any champagne, cava, or sparkling wine

Use freshly squeezed citrus in your cocktails and mocktails when called for – It makes such a difference! Here’s a reliable and inexpensive juicer.
