National Pancake Day – September 26th

Pancakes date back to ancient Greece (as all good things do, the Greeks say). Today you can find pancakes all over the world. In Britain, France, Sweden, and other parts of Europe, they are made thin and often served with a sweet filling or spread. In Shakespeare’s England, they presented them with spices, rosewater, sherry, and apples. Indonesians make theirs with rice flour and coconut milk. Ugandans make them with bananas. Missourians call them sliver dollars and stack them high. Russians top theirs with caviar. Texans make them bigger than the plate.
