On this day in 1982, ET escaped the psycho humanoids of Earth to travel back to his home planet, after a successful call home.
ET the Extraterrestrial is one of Steven Spielberg’s Oscar winning masterpiece films about a boy and a creature from outer space that winds up being his bestie. It was the world’s introduction to Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore, who would both go on to have fruitful film careers. Spielberg shot most of the movie at child height, to promote empathy with the main characters.
