On this day in 1975, a 90-min comedy sketch show called NBC’s Saturday Night, created by Lorne Michaels, debuted on NBC. The original cast (the Not Ready for Prime-Time Players) featured: Chevy Chase, John Belushi, Dan Aykroyd, Gilda Radner, Garrett Morris, Jane Curtin, George Coe, Michael O’Donoghue, and Laraine Newman. The host for the first show was George Carlin, with musical guests Billy Preston and Janice Ian.
47 seasons later, SNL is one of the longest running television programs in America, launching dozens of comedy careers and winning 86 Primetime Emmy Awards, 4 Writers Guild of America Awards, and 2 Peabody Awards.

- 2 oz heavy cream
- 2 oz milk
- 1 oz bourbon
- 5 oz crème de banana
- 5 oz powdered sugar
- 2 drops vanilla extract
Fill a metal bowl with ice and put a smaller metal bowl on top of it. Whisk together all ingredients thoroughly. Strain into freezable vessel and place in freezer for 30 mins. Stir and pour into a glass. Garnish with fresh grated nutmeg and a cinnamon stick.
